She won her Republican primary on August 28, 2012 with 64% of the vote. The general election against incumbent Democrat Raul M. Grijalva and Libertarian Blanca Guerra takes place on November 6, 2012. Candidate Gabriela Saucedo Mercer lacks the skills to hold federal office and this scrapblog is the evidence behind that accusation.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00459774147573972146noreply@blogger.comBlogger90125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6232253288273315153.post-19134094545332415432014-04-17T00:11:00.002-07:002014-04-17T00:11:29.119-07:00Gabriela Saucedo Mercer is running on empty and facing lawsuits for services that went unpaid.<br />

"...The people of Arizona are
essentially decent and good people." Grijalva <a href="http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/110612_election/obama-grijalva-reelected-barber-mcsally-too-close-call/" target="_blank">told the Tuscon Sentinel</a>. "You can't win" in Arizona with "anti-immigrant rhetoric." <br />
<br />
Mercer was "losing her race against current representative Raul Grijalva, 62.02% to 33.7%" on election night according to David Mendez at the <a href="http://www.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archives/2012/11/06/gabby-saucedo-mercer-the-biggest-thing-for-me-would-be-to-retire-grijalva-tonight" target="_blank">Tuscon Weekly</a>.<br />

are waiting until all the provisional and mail in ballots are counted
before we decide what we will do next.”<br />
<br />
Grijalva appears to have won with 57.70% of the vote with 82,709 votes over Mercer's 37.76% with 54,127 votes. Libertarian Blanca Guerra earned 4.38% with 6,275 votes <a href="http://results.enr.clarityelections.com/AZ/42050/111858/Web01/en/summary.html" target="_blank">according to the AZ Secretary of State website</a>. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona%27s_3rd_congressional_district" target="_blank">The district</a> is home to approximately 650,000 people.<br />
<br />
Despite that fact, Mercer's press release states "Until we know that we have lost the battle for this election, I will not concede defeat."<br />
<br />
Her victor, Rep. Raul Grijalva, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/GrijalvaForCongress/posts/10151320146899948" target="_blank">posted to his Facebook page</a> that "<span class="userContent">Apparently Mrs. Mercer believes the campaign
continues. In a post at the Tucson Weekly called "Dispatch From
Crazyland" we learn that she's convinced herself our 58-37 margin is
really only a matter of about 1,100 votes. She's promising to fight to
the end and stay in politics either way. Just a little good news for
anyone who isn't ready for election season to be over."</span> <br />

Gabriela Saucedo Mercer electrified <a href="https://www.azpm.org/p/home-featured/2012/10/10/16882-cd3-candidates-forum/" target="_blank">an otherwise routine debate</a> when she pulled off the gloves and sank to red baiting her opponent, incumbent Raul Grijalva, calling him treasonous for his involvement with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_Pink" target="_blank">Code Pink</a> where she claims he issued a letter granting members passage "behind enemy lines." The debate aired and was streamed live on Arizona Public Media channels and <a href="https://www.azpm.org/p/home-featured/2012/10/10/16882-cd3-candidates-forum/" target="_blank">is available to view on demand</a>. <br />
<br />
About 2/3 into the debate on the issue of military and defense, Mercer suddenly accused Grijalva of wanting to "destroy our military" and of aiming at the Marine base in Yuma for closure. Grijalva did not address Yuma but mentioned diplomacy over military action on the global stage. As the discussion came back to her she derided president Obama for not ending the war, <a href="http://youtu.be/ic_oJQo4nhg" target="_blank">mentioned that her daughter is a U.S. Marine</a>, and then blamed politicians for not <i>winning</i> "the wars." <br />
<br />
"I find it very (disingenuous) or insincere when Mr. Grijalva talks
about our brave men and women in uniform," <a href="http://www.kgun9.com/news/local/173435491.html" target="_blank">KGUN 9's Kevin Keen reports Mercer said</a>, "when he
himself, along with three other members of Congress, gave Code Pink a
congressional letter to allow them to travel behind enemy lines to bring
them aid and comfort to the enemy. Excuse me. In my book, that is
treason," she said to a suddenly vocal audience at the <a href="http://www.pima.edu/" target="_blank">Pima Community College</a> theater. <br />
<br />
Grijalva responded by equating Viet Nam era militarism with Afghanistan era politics, acknowledged Mercer's right to speak, but cautioned her "about how we use such a weapon as treason," adding that her claims were "without merit." Following a mixed reaction from the crowd, in a dramatic moment, Mercer offered her most precise delivery of the night to "ask one question. What else would you call it?"<br />
<br />
Grijalva responded again to the accusation the next morning by posting the following to <a href="http://www.facebook.com/GrijalvaForCongress?ref=ts&fref=ts" target="_blank">his Facebook page</a>:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">

should have more to say about issues that really matter. Just my two

that corrects a previous story in which Jim Hoft "wrongly accused
Barbara Boxer, Raul Grijalva, Henry Waxman and Dennis Kucinich of
helping Code Pink deliver $600,000 to extremists in Fallujah."<br />
<br />
Grijalva's online rebuttal is on the heels of his just uploaded <a href="http://youtu.be/jtU3iINicxI" target="_blank">YouTube ad</a> attacking Mercer as living in an "alternate political universe devoid of fact or common sense." Saucedo Mercer had previously attacked Grijalva's 2010 boycott call against AB 1070 with <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/mercer-attack-video-lacks-teeth.html" target="_blank">this ad</a>. The two were at it only two weeks ago <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-voices-opinions-at-candidate.html" target="_blank">in debate at Rio Rico</a> High School.<br />
<br />

In 2010 <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-convient-case-of-stolen-campaign.html" target="_blank">she filed a police report</a> against one of his staffers for "stealing" Ruth McClung campaign signs, something she discovered while attempting to confront him about Code Pink.<br />
<br />
Calling Grijalva "un American" is nothing new for Mercer. In February this year she earned herself a spot on Thom Hartmann's "<a href="http://youtu.be/6RLsdFifz1Q" target="_blank">The Good the Bad the Ugly</a>" segment for that very phrase. Back in September PAC "People for Grijalva" uploaded another video of Mercer, a sort of "<a href="http://youtu.be/ILC0b4nD4es" target="_blank">greatest hits</a>" of her making four minutes worth of accusations. In May <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/celebrating-victory-over-la-raza.html" target="_blank">she proclaimed</a> to the Arizona Daily Independent that the Tuscon Unified School District was "offering classes which create hate and resentment, and more importantly
Obama and Grijalva voters,” then told POLITICO that people in Nogales wanted to <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/people-down-there-want-to-lynch-grijalva.html" target="_blank">lynch Grijalva</a>, a claim the alleged source of the tale, the mayor, flatly denied. And just weeks ago <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/mercer-heard-story-and-relates-it-in.html" target="_blank">she told KNST</a> that "the story [she] heard" was that Grijalva was swearing in a restaurant. <br />
<br />
Beyond her dislike for Grijalva, Saucedo Mercer went on to say in the debate that to her it seems president Obama is guilty of "dereliction of duty" for his use of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_order" target="_blank">executive order</a>, a process exercised by almost every president in history, and called the president's immigration deferment, like the Dream Act, "a political ploy." She also blamed local state and federal governments for standing in the way of a "free market", citing the Rosemont Copper Mine as an "insane" example of government regulation.<br />
<br />
"Securing the border is not about keeping the poor illegal alien from coming here looking for a job," she said, and drew applause for her opposition to "transnational smuggling." In closing she said she understands the people of Arizona and promised if elected to work hard as a citizen legislator.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRa7SAd-sUNMS6aaLrXRS_mimwJYiCd3xZZNwowzA8z9-Zrr82WRRBybARyaEEHIBWEH91lBDbP_RvetKlHD7GICM1i3MrK0X51ahLNbmwl3Fyp7KsYnvzV30Buw8ipBFBScFxCQlNMgI/s1600/mercer+guerra.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="110" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRa7SAd-sUNMS6aaLrXRS_mimwJYiCd3xZZNwowzA8z9-Zrr82WRRBybARyaEEHIBWEH91lBDbP_RvetKlHD7GICM1i3MrK0X51ahLNbmwl3Fyp7KsYnvzV30Buw8ipBFBScFxCQlNMgI/s200/mercer+guerra.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
Blanca Guerra, who appeared very relaxed for the public forum, spoke
of "more blue less green" on the border, the need for less "over regulation", called for a cap on premiums charged by insurance companies under Obamacare, and of being the Libertarian
"voice of the people." She passed on at least one opportunity to speak, acknowledging that she had been upstaged as Mercer and Grijalva traded barbs.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgERscVkXKnIwRP9KwhPRrCJEfVvZwO8DqaSPKG8GnLAB4RFPFlyclis_ezn1UKGHJbu54PuebHQU8zbjTyie487UMI5oXuhpwsIxFTTTXTzofraiKDtpbTtDlbJSEfLwIpYROiVHs6-tU/s1600/mercer+handshake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgERscVkXKnIwRP9KwhPRrCJEfVvZwO8DqaSPKG8GnLAB4RFPFlyclis_ezn1UKGHJbu54PuebHQU8zbjTyie487UMI5oXuhpwsIxFTTTXTzofraiKDtpbTtDlbJSEfLwIpYROiVHs6-tU/s320/mercer+handshake.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Despite the high level of political theater and overused rhetoric,
Grijalva reached out to Mercer and the two shook hands following the end of the debate
and, in symbolism they seemed unaware of, walked away to their
respective left and right corners of the stage to continue their battle
for Arizona's 3rd Congressional seat.<br />
<br />
KVOA covered the debate in <a href="http://www.kvoa.com/news/candidates-square-off-in-cd-3-debate/" target="_blank">a brief report</a>, saying that there was a police presence on the campus and at the full house event. Campus <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-look-back-at-saucedo-mercers-first.html" target="_blank">authorities stated</a> they would "staff [the debate] properly."<br />

As candidate Gabriela Saucedo Mercer <a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=366968806712669&set=a.366968780046005.86141.106927512716801&type=1&theater" target="_blank">prepares</a> for <a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/424726_365806606828889_1033964220_n.jpg" target="_blank">her second debate</a> tonight with <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-voices-opinions-at-candidate.html" target="_blank">opponents Raul Grijalva and Blanca Guerra</a>, we may want to take a look back as she joined her primary opponent, Jaime Vasquez, in a debate that was televised on Arizona Public Media July 30, 2012. Mercer of course won that election with approximately 64% of the vote.<br />
The format will be similar for tonight's debate, inside the <a href="http://robertdavisinc.com/pima.htm" target="_blank">Proscenium Theater</a> at <a href="http://www.pima.edu/" target="_blank">Pima Community College</a>, except it will be on a stage before a live audience. <a href="http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/100912_cd3_debate/grijalva-mercer-square-off-tuesday-night/" target="_blank">The event</a> will be aired live on <a href="http://kvoi.com/" target="_blank">KVOI</a>, allegedly streamed over <a href="https://tv.azpm.org/whatson/" target="_blank">KUAT channel 6</a> and will be available on the <a href="https://www.azpm.org/" target="_blank">Arizona Public Media website</a> Oct 10.<br />

Attendance at recent Mercer <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/herman-cain-stumps-for-mercer.html" target="_blank">appearances</a> suggest <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/grijalva-is-more-radical-than-barack.html" target="_blank">supporters</a> who don't actually live in her district may travel to the event, and there may be a gathering outside or in the studio. And if <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-voices-opinions-at-candidate.html" target="_blank">the trios' first debate</a> was any indication, Mercer is likely to receive heat for recently stating in social media that Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Ivie was "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/friendly-fire-killed-agent-not-illegals_5.html" target="_blank">killed by illegals</a>", long before any evidence to support the claim was available. Ivie was actually the unfortunate victim of friendly fire in the field and died in the line of duty. The <a href="http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-border-patrol-shooting-20121006,0,3947136.story" target="_blank">Los Angeles Times reported</a> that weapons found on the scene were bought locally, at the <a href="http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/opinion/columnists/article_162fc0d4-124d-11e2-b180-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">Frontier Gun Shop</a>, right in Tuscon, so gun control may be on the discussion list tonight. It was a topic July 30, when Mercer said "gun control is not the answer."<br />

Anything that is being used by a bad person, or a mentally unstable person, is going to happen," she saiys in the video at about 3:49, adding that had movie goers been armed, they could have stopped <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/29/us/aurora-shooting-suspects-court-files-released.html" target="_blank">James E. "Border Patrol agents on horseback led a public funeral procession in
Arizona on Monday for [fellow agent Nicholas Ivie], shot dead near the Mexico border in an
apparent friendly fire incident, as his family said it sought healing
for all involved," <a href="http://wkzo.com/news/articles/2012/oct/08/slain-us-border-patrol-agent-remembered-at-funeral-in-arizona/" target="_blank">reported Reuters</a> Monday.<br />
<br />
Border security, human and drug trafficking were among the topics discussed in the July 30 program as were the <a href="http://www.healthcare.gov/law/index.html" target="_blank">Affordable Care Act</a> ( for which Mercer suggests an alternative: emergency rooms) and the <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/documentary-puts-harsh-light-on.html" target="_blank">Rosemont Copper Mine</a>.<br />

In a tragic accident involving three Border Patrol agents responding to a triggered remote sensor, agent <a href="http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865563876/Homeland-Security-Secretary-Janet-Napolitano-meets-with-law-enforcement-agencies-investigating.html" target="_blank">Nicholas Ivie</a> has been killed in the line of duty "by friendly fire" according to <a href="http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/05/14247384-friendly-fire-killed-border-patrol-agent-sources-tell-nbc-news?lite" target="_blank">NBC</a>. A second unidentified agent "was wounded and ... released from the hospital after undergoing surgery." The third agent is unharmed. The report said a "lack of evidence of other criminals in the area" contributed to the official conclusion.<br />
<br />
Gabriela Suacedo Mercer had stated <a href="http://www.facebook.com/SaucedoMercer/posts/533575376667959" target="_blank">in a Facebook post</a> that Ivie had been "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/mercer-says-agents-attacked-by-illegals.html" target="_blank">killed by illegals</a>" long before any precise information was available. <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/02/naco-arizona-shooting-border-patrol-agent-killed_n_1931925.html" target="_blank">The Huff Post article</a> she linked to in her statement reported that "authorities have not identified any suspects."<br />

Mercer did tell ABC affiliate <a href="http://www.kgun9.com/news/local/172350381.html" target="_blank">KGUN 9</a> that “It angers,” her.<br />
<br />
“We keep hearing from
Washington that the borders are secure. 'They're more secure than ever.'
That is a lie. This is another proof that our borders are not secure,” she said.<br />
<br />
Mercer fellow Tea Party member, House Representative and candidate for U.S. Senate Jeff Flake <a href="http://flake.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=310349" target="_blank">posted a statement urging action</a> in contrast to his

"A .223 Bushmaster rifle, seized on Wednesday, was "recovered in Mexico
in the vicinity where Border Patrol agent was murdered," according to
one of the documents. It says the weapon was purchased in the United

revolver was recovered separately Tuesday in Mexico, also near the Naco
area, a second document says. That trace record included this alert:
"Urgent High Profile Border Agent Shot." The record says the weapon was originally purchased in February 2009 from the <a href="http://gunwebsites.com/Areas.php?action=detail&g=location1144580759" target="_blank">Frontier Gun Shop</a> in Tucson ... <iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/dE29BxV44-o?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe>Paid for by something called the "<a href="https://www.republicanmajoritycampaign.com/Default.aspx" target="_blank">Republican Majority Campaign</a>," Gabriela Saucedo Mercer launched a new attack on Raul Grijalva Oct 3 with a new YouTube video featuring Grijalva's call for boycott in 2010.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Much akin to the Tea Party's <a href="http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-obama-video-reveals-everything-that-we-already-knew-20121002,0,2477029.story" target="_blank">recent aim at President Obama</a>, in which they <a href="http://therionorteline.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/video-obama-speech-praises-wright-attacks-feds-on-katrina-the-daily-caller.png" target="_blank">unveiled a video</a> that has been available online for 5 years and ended up teaching us nothing new, this "attack" vid merely intersperses tea party rhetoric between snippets of Grijalva's call for boycott in 2010 with some real bad music. Same Tea Party strategy - nothing new, not a game changer, and clearly very low budget.<br />
<br />
The PAC also posted a video in support of Sharon Angle which is equally unimpressive. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We covered the backlash to SB 1070 <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/mercer-heard-story-and-relates-it-in.html" target="_blank">in depth here</a> but just to recap, the response to the poorly written, one sided and dangerously xenophobic bill was nationally universal in 2010. Even Major League Baseball threatened to boycott Arizona but was one of the few entities not to. Grijalva's call was a mirror of the country's rage at Arizona, and he had had success with boycotts in the past.<br />
<br />
Grijalva was representing his constituents by adding to the pressure already on the state legislature to turn away from their ill advised effort to deal with the serious border problem posed by the federal government, and it would have happened anyway. To suggest that he was soley responsible is simply ludicrous. Grijalva has been critical of the Administration's border policies, and rated president Obama with a "D"on the matter.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Never the less, Republicans have little else to throw at Grijalva outside of criticizing his weight or his appearance or to fabricate that a 5 term representative "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/grijalva-is-more-radical-than-barack.html" target="_blank">is more radical than Obama</a>," and has done nothing in his career, an argument that fails to explain how he got reelected 5 times. Also, in this race <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-campaign-derailed-by-gop.html" target="_blank">the Republicans aren't spending any money</a>, and one look at this hit piece makes that clear. Despite their best efforts, the congressman has been labeled "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/grijalva-is-unbeatable-analyst.html" target="_blank">unbeatable</a>" so the Tea Party has nothing to lose and appears willing to try anything.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The video ends with a picture of Saucedo Merecer; They must have figured she has <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/p/highlights-history.html" target="_blank">said enough already</a>.</div>

<a href="http://hermancain.com/" target="_blank">Herman Cain</a>, former Republican presidential candidate <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/03/herman-cain-quit-campaign-funds-2012_n_1127212.html" target="_blank">who cancelled his bid</a> after a flurry of stories of romantic improprieties, sexual harassment and assault, stopped by the Viscount Suite Hotel in Tuscon to stump for Gabriela Saucedo Mercer today.<br />
<br />
Mercer is fighting an uphill battle for AZ CD3 against incumbent Raul
Grijalva. She's behind in the polls, in funding and endorsements but
will face her opponents in open debate Oct 9 at 6 pm at the Pima
Community College west Campus, 2202 W. Anklam
Road. Cain is traveling on his "College Truth Tour", a reach out to "faith-based and community leaders as well as college students across the country", according to the <a href="http://www.collegetruthtour.com/" target="_blank">website</a>, with his partner on the project, Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus. <br />
<br />
It is unclear at this time if he is helping add to Mercer's <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/web-site-calls-grijalva-cd-3-for-6th.html" target="_blank">wanting campaign purse</a>, but it is possible. Cain is free to use his substantial remaining presidential campaign funds "with few
restrictions" according to <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/03/herman-cain-quit-campaign-funds-2012_n_1127212.html" target="_blank">Huff Post</a>, and indicated his intention to
play a role as a political figure and announced the launch of <a href="http://thecainsolutions.com/" target="_blank">TheCainSolutions.com</a> during his suspension announcement. <br />

the Marriott Hotel for “anyone who can demonstrate that they are responsible for
paychecks other than their own,” according to the <a href="http://arizonadailyindependent.com/2012/10/02/cain-to-stump-in-tucson-for-saucedo-mercer/" target="_blank">Arizona Daily Indepenent</a> which went on to post this quote:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“Bernie Marcus and I both know first-hand how important it is to have
the facts when making business decisions,” Cain said. “We also know it
is just as important for Americans to have the facts when making
decisions that will impact our communities, businesses and our nation.
This is why I’m proud to join forces with Bernie for The Truth Tour.”</blockquote>
Some may remember Cain's <a href="http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/national-affairs/jon-stewart-on-herman-cain-i-dont-have-the-facts-to-back-this-up-20111006" target="_blank">famous campaign flub</a> "I don't have the facts to back this up ..." <br />

Beck, and who coddled Mercer through a gratuitous 22 minute interview
that she <a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=364684690274414&set=a.107760049300214.12161.106927512716801&type=1" target="_blank">"felt ... went very well,"</a> Lewis assisted her with her talking points but avoided challenging her with any hard questions on any serious issues.</div>

Lewis
launched the program with a recording of <a href="http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/04/dem-rep-boycott-my-state-until-it-scraps-its-racist-immigration-bill-video.php" target="_blank">Raul Grijalva's call for boycott </a>from 2010, belittling the issue in the process, then mentioned "this other woman" Libertarian candidate Blanca
Guerra, about whom Mercer offered "You can also call her Bridegroom."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"Bridegroom?
Why is that?" Lewis asks. "Because she recently just changed her
married name to her maiden name so she can sound more Latina." </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"You're
kidding me." says Lewis. "What was her married name?" "Bridegroom" says
Mercer. "Blanca Bridegroom. She's married to a local attorney here in
town." The banter goes back and forth, until Lewis says "oh, very
sneaky," then calls Grijalva "The Burro."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The program revolved around the recent <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-voices-opinions-at-candidate.html" target="_blank">Candidate Forum at Rio Rico High School</a>
where Mercer was confronted before an audience of 100 people
about her ultra hot rhetoric and lack of empathy. She recounted a moment
that didn't get reported by any of the news outlets covering the event,
and made the assertion that when she was asked about her <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/08/we-dont-want-middle-easterners-here.html" target="_blank">"middle easterner" comments</a> she was talked over by Grijalva before she could even speak.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
"It
was my turn to answer the question and Grijalva proceeded to answer the
question," she told host Lewis. Then she recounted Grijalva's comment
about her "beating the dead horse" of his call for boycott in 2010
against SB 1070, a bill which she supported. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"... And I go whoa, 27,000
jobs is a dead horse?" she said she said. Host Lewis continued to walk
her through the story, rearranging the events she related to him as they
went along. "27,000 jobs, that's how many jobs were lost?" he said as
if he had never heard the tale before. He did not ask her how she came
up with that number and she did not offer any substantiation. Mercer
went on to say that the jobs lost were in the hotel and tourist
industries. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"The Rockefellers and the Joneses and the Smiths were not the
ones that lost their jobs," she said. "It was the people that were hurt
the most were the people working in the hotels and the service
industry."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
"He
still defends the boycott," she went on. "He still says that Arizona is
a racist state when Arizona was put against the wall by the federal
government for not doing their job, and that's the bottom line."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"Wow, this is incredible," said Lewis.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Both
Mercer and her handler conveniently overlooked historical facts that
recall how the passage of SB 1070 in 2010 brought unto the state <a href="http://www.seiu.org/2010/06/national-resistance-to-sb-1070-escalates-with-tens-of-thousands-march-in-phoenix-may-29th.php" target="_blank">a massive outrage</a> from all corners of the globe. officials passed boycott Arizona bills and cancelled contracts for
conventions and events and business dealings with the state and with Arizona based companies. </div>

Thousands
marched in protest, petitions were signed and delivered, students
chained themselves to public buildings, arrests were made, and tension
was high on the issue almost everywhere. The private sector participated
as well, <a href="http://articles.nydailynews.com/2010-05-11/news/27064146_1_immigration-law-mayor-phil-gordon-boycotts" target="_blank">cancelling contracts and commitments across the board</a> and it is estimated the act cost Arizona $90 million in revenue. <a href="http://www.azfamily.com/news/Grijalva-calls-for-boycott-91671599.html" target="_blank">Grijalva's call for boycott</a> did little to provoke this phenomenon, and to insinuate that he alone was responsible for this backlash is not just ridiculous, it's an out and out lie.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
The actual boycott from outside the region and the <a href="http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/04/dem-rep-boycott-my-state-until-it-scraps-its-racist-immigration-bill-video.php" target="_blank">call from Grijalva</a>,
who rightly called the measure "unconstitutional", "discriminatory" and "fundamentally racist" was aimed at
pressuring the legislature led by Governor Jan Brewer to move away from it's unpopular and
legally flawed approach to solving the state's very serious illegal
immigration issue, a matter on which Grijalva "<a href="http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/69106.html" target="_blank">gives the president a 'D' for how he’s handled" it.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The contentious bill, sponsored by the <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2011/11/09/arizona-voters-recall-senate-president-russell-pearce/" target="_blank">embattled Russell Pierce</a> who was recalled for his work on the bill,
was challenged by the federal government and dissected by the Supreme
Court, which struck some provisions and kept others. The law went into
effect in August this year and allows police to question and detain
suspects who have improper citizen identification. <a href="http://www.yumasun.com/articles/bolton-77155-state-traffic.html" target="_blank">Legal challenges abound</a> and are still pending, costing the state millions. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Mercer
went on to recount her accusation from the forum that Grijalva's 5 term
history is "pathetic" and that "right out of the textbook from the DNC
and MSNBC they start using the race card."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="http://images.politico.com/global/news/111125_raul_grijalva_ap_328.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="106" src="http://images.politico.com/global/news/111125_raul_grijalva_ap_328.jpg" width="200" /></a>"You should
be judged on your record" Lewis says, never asking Mercer about hers.
"I don't even know what he has done," said the
"impartial" Lewis. "I mean I don't think
anyone can name one thing that he has done that has been a
positive." </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"Uh, well there is a school named after him," Mercer
said. "I mean how has he added to peoples' incomes? I mean, there's
nothing there," Lewis retorts.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In his defense, a quick glance at Grijalva's website reveals that the congressman has <a href="http://grijalva.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=69&sectiontree=4,69&itemid=355" target="_blank">brought over $37 million in funding</a> for projects just toYuma alone..</div>

program continues it's Grijalva bashing as Mercer again attempts to
defend her controversial comments, recounting Mercer's version of minute
details from the Forum until Lewis turns the focus from Grijalva's
"attacks" on Mercer to his <i>not</i> attacking President Obama and later Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with Lewis holding them personally responsible for the <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/9537683/US-ambassador-to-Libya-killed-in-attack-on-Benghazi-consulate.html" target="_blank">murder of Libyan Ambassador Christopher Stevens.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The
accusation is so absurd, that Lewis hadn't "heard [Grijalva] condemn
the President for not having the proper security" at the embassy in
Libya,one has to ask what planet these two are on. Why, in the
middle of a local candidate forum, that the incumbent representative for
southern Arizona should choose to criticize the President and
Secretary of State for an international issue rather than focus on the
candidate opposing his office sitting just inches away is quite ludicrous.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"Raul Grijalva's not focusing on that," Lewis says, "he's focusing on ... " "How racist I am," Mercer provides.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
After
the break they turn to Blanca Guerra, and theorize that she is
a pawn of Grijalva, placed in the race merely to draw votes away from Mercer
but then Lewis momentarily mentions her <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-campaign-derailed-by-gop.html" target="_blank">funding cut from the National Republican Congressional Committee</a>, only to quickly turn to short talking Grijalva again.</div>

people are hard core and they will vote for [Grijalva] no matter what."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"The way he votes is against your values, it is against what you what you believe," Mercer says.

Mercer reiterated her opinion of "The subsidies of the<i> big bad oil companies</i>"
claiming that "When I did my research, there's no subsidies for the oil

goes on to say that "if you want to call it a subsidy, the oil and
gas companies get 64 cents per kilowatt." Lewis does not seek clarification on what that means. Mercer mentions Solyndra and subsidies to solar companies.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
They
talk about the <a href="http://www.healthcare.gov/law/index.html" target="_blank">Affordable Care Act</a> by calling it "Obamacare" and the "horrors of socialized medicine", "Fast

contrary, they both blame "higher ups in D.C." The IG report named 14
individuals for discipline. Neither Lewis or Mercer mentioned that.</div>

Website "<a href="http://www.electionprojection.com/2012elections/statepages/az12.php" target="_blank">electionprojection.com</a>" says <i>No Contest</i> on Mercer / Grijalva vote. Barring unforeseen events, incumbent Raul Grijalva will be the winner of the Arizona Congressional District 3 on Nov. 6, his 6th term, by a landslide margin.<br />
<br />
That doesn't mean Mercer is giving up the fight. Judging from her performance Wednesday night during the Candidate Forum at Rio Rico, she's only begun to get fired up. She is <a href="http://tucsoncitizen.com/community/2012/10/01/congressman-grijalva-vs-challengers-saucedo-mercer-guerra-at-cd-3-debate-on-october-9/" target="_blank">scheduled to join Grijalva and Blanca Guerra for another debate</a>
Oct 9 at 6 pm at the Pima Community College west Campus, 2202 W. Anklam
Road. The event will be broadcast on Arizona Public Media on Oct 10. According to her Facebook page she is doing a radio talk show on KNST, also.<br />
<br />
Mercer's battle is not only face to face against her opponents. She has only about <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-campaign-derailed-by-gop.html" target="_blank">$15,000 remaining in her coffers</a> compared to Grijalva's $300,000. That combined with the 25/50 ratio of Republican to Democrat (and approximately 25% Independent) voters leaves Mercer with an uphill fight. She has to convince approximately 350,000 people <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona%27s_7th_congressional_district" target="_blank">in the 700,000 person district</a> to vote for her with only 40 days until the election.<br />

A collection of political nuggets from this blog and the web is a look back at the phenomenon that is Gabriela Saucedo Mercer, and at the same time a study in extreme sociopolitical consequence. It remains a work in progress. Items are in no particular order.<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>As a private citizen and before announcing her run for congress, Mercer <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/gabriela-saucedo-mercer-speaks-in.html" target="_blank">supported AZ SB 1070</a>, the "show me your papers" law, despite the fact that a <a href="http://www.pewhispanic.org/files/reports/128.pdf" target="_blank">Pew Hispanic Center poll</a> from October 2010 showed that 79
percent of Latinos disapproved of SB 1070. </li>
<li><a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150955543319657&set=a.440010009656.215696.41632789656&type=1&theater" target="_blank">Supports Voter Suppression </a></li>
<li>As a private citizen and before announcing her run for congress, <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/i-have-seen-firsthand-damage-done-to.html" target="_blank">Mercer supported two state bills</a> by fellow Tea Party member <a href="http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/valleyfever/2011/07/lori_klein_state_senator_point.php" target="_blank">AZ Senator Lori Klien</a> that would have prohibited "partisan" thoughts in the classroom. One of the laws would have seen teachers fired, stripped of their credentials and schools de funded for having a "partisan" thought. The measure passed committee 5-2 and almost became law but was defeated by a hair thin 16-14 vote in the Senate. <a href="http://youtu.be/eLFV-4SHgjI" target="_blank">Klein is famous</a> for <a href="http://www.keprtv.com/news/national/125470183.html" target="_blank">pointing a gun at a reporter in the state legislature. </a></li>
<li>Garnered national attention when she posted a "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/this-is-facebook-post-that-brought.html" target="_blank">A lesson in Irony</a>", an uncredited and allegedly plagiarized statement that equated welfare recipients with wild animals who "will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves." </li>
<li><a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/ms-mercer-promotes-film-agenda-grinding.html" target="_blank">Promotes the film "Agenda"</a>, which claims that the "Left" is engaged in "microwave communism" and is but one of two options: "ignorant or evil", leaving the oversimplified political spectrum of "Right, Ignorant or Evil."</li>
<li>Claims in debate and radio appearance that "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/10/mercer-heard-story-and-relates-it-in.html" target="_blank">there's no subsidies for the oil companies</a>" adding that "if you want to call it a subsidy, the oil and
gas companies get 64 cents per kilowatt." Of course the <a href="http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/fandd/2010/06/picture.htm" target="_blank">International Monetary Fund disagrees</a>.</li>
<li><span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" id=".reactRoot[2].[1][2][1]{comment182212418581747_565018}..[1]..[1]..[0].[2]" style="font-size: small;"><span class="UFICommentBody" id=".reactRoot[2].[1][2][1]{comment182212418581747_565018}..[1]..[1]..[0].[2]."><span id=".reactRoot[2].[1][2][1]{comment182212418581747_565018}..[1]..[1]..[0].[2]..[1]"><a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/gabriela-saucedo-mercer-jesse-antonio.html" target="_blank">In a recent Facebook post</a>, Mercer <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercers-twisted-knowledge-of-american.html" target="_blank">made an extraordinary claim</a>: "Democrats fought against the blacks during the civil rights
movement."</span></span></span> </li>
<li>After her "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/08/we-dont-want-middle-easterners-here.html" target="_blank">middle easterner</a>" comments, <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/fast-and-furious-not-reality-tv-game.html" target="_blank">is photographed with Lebanese Congressman Darrell Issa</a> (R-CA). <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-pal-issa-named-most-corrupt_26.html" target="_blank">Issa a few days later is named "Most Corrupt Congressman"</a> for "leading a witch hunt" against Attorney General Eric Holder that forced the president to evoke Executive Privilege, then dodged behind "constitutional protections" to avoid censure. </li>
<li><a href="http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/02/22/430677/gabriela-mercer-raul-grijalva-allegiance-america/" target="_blank">Think Progress quoted Mercer</a> in an appearance video "dismissing [her opponent, incumbent Raul] Grijalva, who chairs the Congressional Progressive
Caucus, as a “communist” — “what is progressive about communism?” Mercer
asked — she told the crowd that the congressman is “anti-America.” “His
allegiance is not to America,” Mercer declared. “Grijalva was born
here, but he hates the American way."</li>
<li>Openly <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/barak-husein-obama-is-communist.html" target="_blank">called President Barack Hussein Obama a communist</a>.</li>
<li>Her announcement for candidacy <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/raul-grijalva-barrack-obama-are.html" target="_blank">was described as</a> "underwhelming, filled with the usual conservative <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/08/gabriela-saucedo-mercer-promotes-hatred.html" target="_blank">rhetoric</a> on social issues and not much else."</li>
<li>Supports the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=161081357362524&set=a.143246032479390.30794.100003819836060&type=1&theater" target="_blank">rejection of opposing viewpoints as "desperate hacks"</a></li>
<li>Supports the Rosemont Copper Mine, claiming it will bring 2,000 new jobs to the region (Rosemont spokespeople have said it would create <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/documentary-puts-harsh-light-on.html" target="_blank">as many as 9,000</a> jobs). It remains <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/documentary-puts-harsh-light-on.html" target="_blank">a controversial project</a> that is <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-rosemont-copper-mine.html" target="_blank">an issue battleground</a> still undergoing permit reviews and legal challenges. Sadly, in a district with 18 plus percent unemployment, it is the only tangible employment plank in her platform. </li>

She continues to <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/grijalva-is-more-radical-than-barack.html" target="_blank">defend her remarks</a>.</li>
<li>Routinely <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/gabriela-saucedo-mercer-edits.html" target="_blank">filters unfavorable and disparaging comments</a> from her Facebook page rather than encouraging open, reasonable, articulate debate.</li>

<a href="https://media.azpm.org/master/image/2012/8/28/spot/082812_mercer_victory_617x347.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="https://media.azpm.org/master/image/2012/8/28/spot/082812_mercer_victory_617x347.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
According to reporter Becky Pallack, covering the Candidate Forum at Rio Rico High Sept 27 for the <a href="http://azstarnet.com/news/blogs/pueblo-politics/cd-debate-ends-with-yelling/article_fcf4e4b4-08c9-11e2-b92c-001a4bcf887a.html" target="_blank">Arizona Daily Star</a>, Gabriela Saucedo Mercer said Rep. Raúl Grijalva has “a
pathetic track record," questioned Libertarian Blanca Guerra’s dual
citizenship, denied that US oil and gas companies receive subsidies and said the Ryan budget “makes a lot of sense."<br />
<br />
In what one reporter termed "<a href="http://azstarnet.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/cd-debate-includes-yelling-name-calling/article_0cc60d8a-c798-5db4-a87d-6a58ebec96cc.html" target="_blank">grade school</a>"
behavior, candidates traded barbs, yelled and resorted to name calling.
Mercer accused Grijalva of playing the "race card." Grijalva called
Saucedo Mercer a conspiracy theorist and Guerra called Mercer ignorant and
intolerant toward immigrants and questioned her grasp of the English
language. Mercer challenged her allegiance, pointing to Guerra's dual
citizen status. <br />

<a href="http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/nogalesinternational.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/2/76/2769e8b2-0982-11e2-ba75-0019bb2963f4/5065c3f0e213a.preview-300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="144" src="http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/nogalesinternational.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/2/76/2769e8b2-0982-11e2-ba75-0019bb2963f4/5065c3f0e213a.preview-300.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
Grijalva has said there will be a personal side to the campaign. He <a href="http://www.kgun9.com/news/local/167907995.html" target="_blank">told KGUN Aug 29</a> that "the allegations, the statements that she's made publicly about me being
a Marxist and a Communist and anti-American, that's the other level on
which unfortunately this campaign is going to be waged." In the past, Mercer has labeled her opponent "anti-American" and gone so far as <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/raul-grijalva-barrack-obama-are.html" target="_blank">to call him, and the President, communists</a>.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.nogalesinternational.com/news/cd-forum-ends-with-a-bang/article_deab07c8-0981-11e2-a14f-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">Nogales International reported</a>
that Grijalva said “Quite
frankly, the Tea Party took over the House of Representatives,”
adding that gridlock could be resolved by “unchaining the
Republican Party.”<br />
<br />
<a href="http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/nogalesinternational.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/d/3b/d3b0b5d8-0725-11e2-bbbe-001a4bcf887a/5061cdffc096e.image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/nogalesinternational.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/d/3b/d3b0b5d8-0725-11e2-bbbe-001a4bcf887a/5061cdffc096e.image.jpg" width="200" /></a>Saucedo Mercer seemed unprepared for some issues of discussion. When asked about the Chula Vista Bridge project in Nogales that the Army Corps of Engineers had just recently put on hold, despite available funding, <a href="http://www.gvnews.com/news/local/fireworks-at-cd-debate-in-rio-rico/article_bd2228d8-09cd-11e2-8c78-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">she said</a> that she was not familiar with the project, but she had heard about it from some Nogalians she had met. <br />
<br />
But when questioned about her "<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/08/we-dont-want-middle-easterners-here.html" target="_blank">middle easterner</a>" comments and the overwhelming negative response to them, <a href="http://www.nogalesinternational.com/news/cd-forum-ends-with-a-bang/article_deab07c8-0981-11e2-a14f-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">Mercer responded</a>, “Well, you know when you have the track record of the current
Congressman and the Obama administration all you have to do is resort to
the race card.”<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.kvoa.com/news/grijalva-and-saucedo-mercer-come-out-swinging-for-cd-3/" target="_blank">KVOA NBC has reported</a> her saying "They're trying to make me look like a racist, I'm sorry who's the
racist? ... Grijalva has been advocating for La Raza Studies
which is all about race he is a member of MEChA, that is a racist
group."<br />
<br />
“I failed to say radical Islamic Muslim terrorists," Saucedo Mercer said according to <a href="http://www.nogalesinternational.com/news/cd-forum-ends-with-a-bang/article_deab07c8-0981-11e2-a14f-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">Nogales' report</a>. "Am I being
politically correct now? ... I still stand with what I said. I
don’t want them here legally or illegally because all they want to do is
come and kill us.”<br />

Grijalva contended that with saucedo Mercer, “... if
we raise any questions about the impropriety of a comment, suddenly it’s
a conspiracy by Grijalva and Obama.”<br />
<br />
Indeed, Saucedo Mercer has used that theme before. In May 2012, in response to the cancelling of Ethnic Studies in Tucson, <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/celebrating-victory-over-la-raza.html" target="_blank">she said in the Arizona Daily Independent</a>, "Superintendent Huppenthal ... [and the TUSD Scool] Board acted on behalf of our community and stopped
offering classes which create hate and resentment, and more importantly
Obama and Grijalva voters.” <br />
<br />

The harshest assault on Saucedo Mercer at the CD3 Candidate Forum came from Libertarian Guerra. <a href="http://www.nogalesinternational.com/news/cd-forum-ends-with-a-bang/article_deab07c8-0981-11e2-a14f-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">Nogales International reported</a>
that she "turned to Saucedo Mercer and, from a distance of only a few feet,
said: “You have, from the beginning, repeatedly shown ignorance, your
lack of understanding, your lack of comprehension, your complete
ignorance and intolerance to immigrants. You do not belong as a
representative.” Nogales reports that Mercer responded by saying that Guerra started her campaign as a
Republican, but changed to Libertarian when she didn’t get the party’s
nomination.<br />
<br />
There was dicussion of matters that affect the public, and Grijalva later said “not enough” has
been done to stop guns from entering Mexico. Saucedo Mercer agreed that
“nothing has been done,” but she said, “the
reason we have this problem is that Rep. Grijalva has not done his job.” All seemed to agree the <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-pal-issa-named-most-corrupt_26.html" target="_blank">Fast and Furious</a>
operation was a failure, with
Saucedo Mercer calling it “botched” and Grijalva saying it was
“ill-conceived.” Guerra suggested we aim at the cartels like we did Osama Bin
Laden. Saucedo Mercer offered no alternatives, but recognized that lack
of manpower at border entry points is a serious problem.<br />
<br />
“We’re building this great port or entry, but we don’t have enough
people to staff them,” Saucedo Mercer said. She laid the blame for
under staffing at the feet of the Obama Administration but again, offered no solutions of her own.<br />
<br />
In the past, Mercer has stated <a href="http://azstarnet.com/news/local/grijalva-slams-saucedo-mercer-on-middle-easterner-comments-updated/article_57ea11f8-f19d-11e1-b798-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">illegal immigration is an "unfortunate" situation</a> and that reforms will fail until the border
is secured. She cites the double-layer fence in San Diego County as a
success story and she criticizes humanitarian efforts to leave water in
the desert, according to the Arizona Daily Star. <br />
<br />
Candidates Mercer, Grijalva and Guerra are scheduled for another debate Oct 9 6 pm at the Pima Community College west Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Road. The event will be broadcast on Arizona Public Media on Oct 10.<br />

Mercer is for the mine, <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-rosemont-copper-mine.html" target="_blank">saying it would provide 2,000 jobs</a>, and has recieved, money from Rosemont Copper and its parent company, Augusta Resource.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's not Augusta Resouce that is the focus of <span class="paragraph-0">John Dougherty's</span> "Cyanide Beach", rather, "it’s about a company called Sargold that bought a mine in the small town
of Furtei on the island of Sardinia in 2003," <a href="http://www.nogalesinternational.com/the_bulletin/opinion/rosemont-and-some-big-questions/article_5577225a-0820-11e2-9efc-001a4bcf887a.html" target="_blank">according to Dan Shearer of the Weekly Bulletin</a>. "The link is that five
Augusta executives were on the board of Sargold" when they "misspent a government
loan, owed investors thousands of dollars, and found itself in a major
cash crisis. It also eventually was revealed that they skipped legal
filings, kept investors in the dark, and failed to disclose that a
Cayman Islands hedge fund owned more than 10 percent of its mine stock."</div>

"Sargold owned the mine four years and lost $7 million, " Sheaer writes. "It sold
the Furtei mine in 2007 to Buffalo Gold, but kept a 25 percent interest.
The Sargold board dissolved, which is key – that’s the reason Augusta
Resource today declines to answer any questions about the mine. Because
when Buffalo Gold walked out literally overnight 14 months later –
leaving Furtei with a horrifying mess – Augusta executives technically
weren’t involved."<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://www.investigativemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/IN-MY-VIEW-Augusta%E2%80%99s-problems-run-deep-Green-Valley-News-Letters-To-The-Editor1.pdf" target="_blank">Dougherty</a>, "The documentary reveals a pattern of unethical business behavior that is being repeated in Arizona. Vancouver-based Augusta and its Rosemont Copper subsidiary in Arizona have unleashed a propaganda campaign aimed at drumming up support for the proposed Rosemont copper mine. Exploiting widespread job fears, Rosemont is making wildly disparate job projections for the mine: Augusta Resource Corp. CEO Gil Clausen says 4,500 jobs will be created while an Augusta spokeswoman says its 9,000." <br />

She told the chair, and the audience, that Grijalva missed 400 votes during the last Congressional session, and went on to say that "the Tea Party is the force that is holding our elected officials accountable."<br />
<br />
But then she
said "Raul Grijalva wants to take your freedoms away" after reading
from Forbes magazine an article about Grijalva's letter to Sectary of
State Hillary Clinton calling for an international arms trade treaty.
"Grijalva is more radical than Barack Hussein Obama," she said, then went on to
cite Grijalva's calling her "racist" and began a diatribe about her
"<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/08/we-dont-want-middle-easterners-here.html" target="_blank">middle easterners</a>" comments, and said she would not apologize for what
she said because "no body apologized for" 9/11. Her "illogical comments and
statements" caused the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee to <a href="http://www.adc.org/media/press-releases/2012/august-2012/gop-candidate-questions-why-middle-easterners-are-in-america/" target="_blank">issue a call for an apology</a>, and said her statements are "rooted in xenophobia and have no place in politics or our
national discourse."</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br />
She went on to make the accusation, much to the approval of her audience, that it is Grijalva who is the racist, not her. "He is the one who wants to separate people by the color of our skin. I refuse to get into that box. I do not belong in that box. I am an American by choice. I love this country ... I will die for this country!"<br />
<br />
After winning the primary, Mercer <a href="http://azstarnet.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/grijalva-cruises-to-easy-primary-victory-will-face-saucedo-mercer/article_9568b68a-af29-53fa-a82e-256d7850e83e.html" target="_blank">told the Arizona Daily Star</a> "I'll continue reaching
out to [Latino] voters, especially the ones who have been disenfranchised with [Grijalva], and then plead my case," she said. The subject does not come up on this video.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.kgun9.com/news/local/167907995.html" target="_blank">Grijalva has been quoted</a> "The allegations, the statements that she's made publicly about me being
a Marxist and a Communist and anti-American, that's the other level on
which unfortunately this campaign is going to be waged." <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-voices-opinions-at-candidate.html" target="_blank"> The two met at a candidate forum</a> in Rio Rico and apparently there were sparks.<br />

Here is her speech at the "Conservative Cruze" event.</div>

" ... Grijalva is better prepared for the race than in 2010, according to

that Middle Easterners' "only goal in life is to, to cause harm to the
United States" and are not welcome in the country, is the reason the
NRCC has abandoned the district.

"They put their eggs in Ms. Mercer's basket and she's proven to be more of a liability than an asset," Grijalva said.<br />

<br />
<a href="http://azstarnet.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/gop-is-no-longer-targeting-grijalva/article_934a8b78-a41a-5e34-bda5-32f3eb653a90.html" target="_blank">Funding for her campaign has been pulled</a>, she was <a href="http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/09/jan_brewer_gabriela_saucedo_mercer.php" target="_blank">rudely dumped by AZ Governor Jan Brewer</a> recently when the well know Republican <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/governor-jan-brewer-backs-out-of.html" target="_blank">cancelled a fundraiser appearance</a> earlier this month following Mercer's <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/08/we-dont-want-middle-easterners-here.html" target="_blank">incendiary racial comments</a>, and after a string of <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/this-is-facebook-post-that-brought.html" target="_blank">caustic statements</a> both on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/SaucedoMercer" target="_blank">her Facebook page</a> and <a href="http://youtu.be/B3YrNkzv2sA" target="_blank">at public appearances</a>. It seems her brand of ultra right wing "conservativism" is not as popular as once believed.<br />
<br />
The district is less than 25 percent Republican, so even with GOP assistance she has a lot of convincing to do, since at least a third of the district is independent. Barney Brenner, a member of the Pima County GOP
executive committee<a href="http://azstarnet.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/gop-is-no-longer-targeting-grijalva/article_934a8b78-a41a-5e34-bda5-32f3eb653a90.html" target="_blank"> told The Arizona Daily Star</a> it will be harder for a Republican to win when national money is
directed elsewhere, but "we have a very good candidate and if anybody can do it, Gabriela Saucedo Mercer can,"<br />
<a href="https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/480356_362478643828352_1700217733_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/480356_362478643828352_1700217733_n.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
A recent Mercer Facebook post, littered with the usual hateful Tea Party comments about the opponent's looks, or his overweight appearance rather than anything of any real substantive or constructive value, suggests that she is going <a href="http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/forward" target="_blank">forward </a>with a candidate forum and debating her opponent, <a href="http://grijalva.house.gov/" target="_blank">Raul Grijalva</a>. With the GOP pullout I wonder if Grijalva will even bother to show.<br />
<br />
<br />
The Star went on to report that Mercer declined to comment to on the NRCC but said
fundraising is "going great" and she is feeling good about the race and
preparing for upcoming debates.<br />
<br />
Financially, Mercer is way behind Grijalva, who holds about $300,000 in funds. <span class="s1"><a href="http://www.nwra.org/content/articles/vulnerable-members-of-energy-and-commerce-natural/" target="_blank">According to the NWRA in a post dated Feb 2 2012</a>, she "raised $95,000 in 2011
including $25,000 in the fourth quarter. Saucedo Mercer reported $4,000
on hand in December." In a document dated Aug 8, <a href="http://www.azcentral.com/ic/pdf/AZ-campaign-finance-reports.pdf" target="_blank">AZcentral.com reports in a PDF</a> that Mercer has roughly $15,000 on hand. <a href="http://www.opensecrets.org/races/summary.php?cycle=2012&id=AZ03" target="_blank">Information at Opensecrets.org</a> also says she has $15,000 remaining.</span><br />
<br />
<span class="s1">But money and demographics aren't the only obstacles for Mercer. Her vitriolic rhetoric is too hot for Governor Brewer and the NRCC to support, but it's a trend that has held since her entry into the race. In a <a href="http://www.nogalesinternational.com/news/candidacy-launched-from-tough-terrain-for-gop/article_c0a7325a-34a1-5a55-8c34-f7d219c83f18.html" target="_blank">Nogales International story dated Sep 6 2011</a>, just over a year ago, founder and president of the nation’s
largest Hispanic Republican group,</span><span class="s1"> </span><span class="s1"><a href="http://somosrepublicans.com/" target="_blank">Somos Republicans</a>, Dee Dee Garcia Blase said </span><span class="s1">Mercer is “not a real Republican" and went on to say that “Real Republicans have their capitalism hats on ... She’s got a restrictionist Dixiecrat mentality and we cannot
afford that in Arizona. People like that destroy our image. As the
party of Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, we cannot grow that
way. Those policies are a turn-off to Hispanic Republicans.”</span><br />
<br />
Mercer's campaign has been bumpy at best. Rumours early on suggested the
GOP wasn't happy with her and her and actually toyed with
retrieving Ruth McClung back into the action because Mercer "<a href="http://www.rumromanismrebellion.net/2012/07/17/the-wit-and-wisdom-of-gabriela-garcia-mercer/" target="_blank">might be prone to the more bat guano side in some of her statements</a>." <br />
Potential Gabreila Saucedo Mercer supporters should be advised that Mercer is a member of the <a href="http://www.cults.co.nz/z.php" target="_blank">cult of ZAP</a>, or "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenith_Applied_Philosophy" target="_blank">Zenith Applied Philosophy</a>". ZAP has a front group called the Tax Reduction
Integrity Movement (TRIM), but ZAP is an offshoot of <a href="http://www.cults.co.nz/s.php#scientology" target="_blank">Scientology</a> and was founded in 1974. It is a cult some <a href="http://www.factnet.org/node/549" target="_blank">consider quite dangerous</a>. Mercer's most inspirational mentor, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=346853108724239&set=pb.106927512716801.-2207520000.1348703483&type=1&theater" target="_blank">Trevor Loudon</a>, is a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenith_Applied_Philosophy#Notable_Members.2FStudents" target="_blank">charter member</a>. Zenith Applied Philosophy (ZAP) is a Christchurch, New Zealand based
organization founded by <a href="http://thecentreoftheuniverse.webs.com/parttwojohndalhoff.htm" target="_blank">John Dalhoff </a>(aka John Ultimate). ZAP
has a world view "which is a combination of Scientology, Eastern
mysticism and the ideas of the American John Birch Society" according to wikipedia, but <a href="http://thecentreoftheuniverse.webs.com/" target="_blank">Center of the Universe</a> does a much better job of describing it, adding that members are "secretive in their dealings, reluctant to engage the media, [and that] Z.A.P
remains largely an enigma - even in their own home-town, Christchurch" and that ZAP members are "intensely right-wing, ‘free marketers’ and vehemently anti-union." Like Scientology, "prospective members were encouraged to first ‘take a personality or I.Q test’ and then take a series of expensive ‘self improvement’ courses." The description continues: <br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;">"To locals, Zenith Applied Philosophy’ (Z.A.P or Zappers) public persona, was its high profile ‘open all hours’ fast food outlets - that proliferated central Christchurch in its heyday, the late 70’s and 1980’s.<br /><br />"Luigi’s Pizza, The Dog House in ‘the square’, Farmer John’s Burger Bar in Papanui Road, The American Burger Bar, The Sandwich Factory, Roasters Restaurant etc. <br /><br />"Z.A.P members were also enthusiastic proselytisers around the streets of Christchurch at this time approaching strangers with open-ended questions like “are you worried about communists taking over New Zealand?” or simply “do you enjoy reading?”<br /><br />"It was the norm at The Dog House burger-bar to receive a ‘little ditty’ stapled to the burger wrapper with some profound piece of philosophy (speaking from personal experience, if only more of the recipients were sober, this approach may have proved more successful!) Still to be fair, the most intriguing reading material was to be found at these fast-food outlets. Rather than out-dated copies of Women’s Weekly and National Geographic, you were able to skim the photo-copied pages of ‘None Dare Call it Conspiracy’ or some ‘way out’ propaganda leaflet, all whilst you waited for your double-meat & cheese burger to be cooked. <br /><br />"Also amongst the less conspicuous Z.A.P business interests around Christchurch were massage parlours, an art gallery, health food shop, office cleaning, organic farming, a printing company, burglar alarms and leather manufacturing. Some of these are still about today." </span><br />

The "little diddies" stapled to burger bags were just "pieces of paper", which is a common theme among Gabriela Saucedo Mercer's most phenomenal statements. When she posted the <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/07/this-is-facebook-post-that-brought.html" target="_blank">"People are Animals" </a>statement, she claimed she received it "on a little piece of paper" - didn't know where or from whom it came, but there it was for all to see, and she even posted a picture of it on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/SaucedoMercer" target="_blank">her Facebook page</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
As mentioned above, Trevor Loudon is Mercer's mentor. He has appeared with her on several occasions. Loudon is described by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevor_Loudon" target="_blank">Wikipedia</a> as "a <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6232253288273315153" target="_blank" title="New Zealand">New Zealand</a> political activist who was vice president of the <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6232253288273315153" target="_blank" title="ACT New Zealand">ACT New Zealand</a> Party from 2006 to 2008. He has been involved in politics in <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6232253288273315153" target="_blank" title="Christchurch">Christchurch</a> for many years, most notably the Campaign for a Soviet Free New Zealand a group which published dossiers on people involved in the <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6232253288273315153" target="_blank" title="Anti-nuclear movement">anti-nuclear movement</a>, declaring them to be <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6232253288273315153" target="_blank" title="Communism">communists</a> and "connecting the dots" between them and their supposed Soviet masters." It's just the sort of Glen Beck Chartology that easily confueses the most vulnerable and unsuspecting minds. Loudon makes frequent trips to the United States for lectures speeches and seminars, but it is well known that the FBI and CIA have files on him, and the State Department almost cancelled his last Visa.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/1Gy5Z5cnIZ4?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe>Loudon is a prolific <a href="http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/07/some-good-old-fashioned-red-baiting/260046/" target="_blank">red baiter</a> who is capable of drawing a line from Joseph Stalin, Karl Marx or Mao Zedong or Che Guevera or any one of thousands of organizations to any enemy he has. It's sort of the <a href="http://www-distance.syr.edu/bacon.html" target="_blank">Six Degrees game</a>, but with a red aim and a goal to destroy people lives, people who may only be guilty of having an opposing viewpoint.<br />
<br />
So what is Loudon's viewpoint? He stays active with a blog that is oddly enough uncovering communists on a daily basis. It seems for every issue on the planet there is a communist, and thank the gods of the universe that Trevor Loudon is there to point the finger at them. He is of course hard right wing, but his obsession with the overthrow of the United States government is unique among the extremist right. A citizen of New Zealand, he seems to have special access to sensitive information and only he can solve the riddles of socialist communist marxist whatever-you-want-to-call-it rhetoric.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://azstarnet.com/news/blogs/pueblo-politics/saucedo-mercer-on-facebook-comments-about-middle-easterners-not-divisive/article_b8be13d4-f6b2-11e1-94ef-0019bb2963f4.html" target="_blank">In a recent Facebook post</a>, Mercer said in response to her <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/08/we-dont-want-middle-easterners-here.html" target="_blank">comments about "middle easterners" </a><br />
"I want to encourage 'Westerners,' the whole melting pot that makes
this great country to educate yourself on Radical Islamist. ACT For
America is a great tool where you can learn a lot and then make up your
mind." <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.actforamerica.org/" target="_blank">ACT! For America</a> is a group that criticizes Islam. It is the American arm of Loudons' <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACT_New_Zealand" target="_blank">ACT Party</a>, a sub cult of the cult of ZAP.<br />

As is well known through <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7329768.stm" target="_blank">studies</a>, foreign accents can make the speaker appear more intelligent. Loudon skillfully amonishes every statement with a liberal dousing of special accent sauce. <br />

<br />
Typical of most cultists, the very first thing he tells his disciples is that EVERYONE is lying - except him. Of course his techniques for mind warping are a little more complex, but essentially that's what happens, and the follower is drawn into his web of deceit.<br />
<br />
And somehow, from his apartment in New Zealand, he is able to uncover "communists and socialists" in the United States with apparently secret information that only ha has access to. <br />
<br />
So it's good to know that with Gabriela Saucedo Mercer you get the mind, the demographic and the cult, all in one neat package.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00459774147573972146noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6232253288273315153.post-32094864025480636572012-09-24T12:08:00.001-07:002012-10-10T22:52:14.461-07:00"Cesar Chavez ... hated ... his people"<div class="" id=".reactRoot[2].[1][2][1]{comment182212418581747_565018}..[1]..[1]">

Mercer isn't the only lawmaker to propound the theory that radical
Muslim extremists are taking advantage of America's immigration laws to
inflict harm. Rep. <a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/saucedo-mercer-endorsed-by-steve-king.html" target="_blank">Steve King</a> (R-Iowa) once called illegal immigration a
"slow-motion terrorist attack." Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) has
insisted that terrorists come to America to have babies so they can be
born as U.S. citizens. Mercer would put a Hispanic face on the far-fetched theory. It's
unclear whether publicizing Mercer's comments will help or hurt her
campaign.</div>

<span class="follow">As an American of European, African or Asian descent, the next time you
see a Mexican-American, look at them not as an immigrant and then
contemplate their citizenship status, but rather consider that you may
be looking at those God will use to save the nation ... This is why Gabby Saucedo Mercer’s candidacy is so very important. </span><span class="follow">She may represent the beginning of a conservative awakening in the Mexican-American community that will, as in 1862, preserve the union of the nation. It will be those with a humble heart and contrite spirit, like Gabby, that will bring us together to solve the most recalcitrant problems we face – like illegal immigration – to name just one. My personal conviction and hope is that God is releasing Gabby as a leader and voice to a people who are inclined to honor Him and bless America with their words, deeds and votes. Look for great things as Gabby Saucedo Mercer decisively wins her election bid and takes her rightful place as one of the greatest citizen servants to ever grace the halls of Congress. </span></div>

<span class="follow">Saucedo Mercer, who like [Blanca] Guerra is an immigrant from Mexico, sometimes
struggled finding the right words to convey her message. For example, [<a href="http://gabrielasaucedomercer.blogspot.com/2012/09/mercer-voices-opinions-at-candidate.html" target="_blank">during the Candidate Forum at Rio Rico</a>] at
one point she said she didn't want her daughter, a Marine, or other
U.S. soldiers to be "well-equipped." She meant "ill-equipped."</span></div>
