"Cesar Chavez ... hated ... his people"

A recent visitor made a comment on Gabriela Suacedo Mercer's Facebook page, and the response is quite telling. Interestingly enough, Jesse Antonio Ramirez's comment has been deleted, as is customary for Mercer when dealing with opposing views. Some of her previous posts in this discussion have been deleted as well. But in her response she typed his full name, which in Facebook makes it become a link.

I clicked it and contacted Mr. Ramirez and he was more than happy to supply a copy of his statement culled from his Facebook Activity Log. Many people are unaware that EVERYTHING you do on Facebook is recorded. Even if a post is deleted, it remains in your Activity Log, but only the user can see it. Simply scrolling will locate a post. Mr. Ramirez found his posts and copy and pasted it to me, and it is included here, as a matter of context.

In her defense, Mr. Ramirez is clearly not happy with Saucedo Mercer, but it is important to understand the exchange because it prompted such an unusual response, where she makes some incredible claims, including that "Cesar Chavez ... hated illegal immigrants" and  "did not care for "his people"". She then posts some census data from 2006 for some reason.

It is important to note that this post is about the "Obama flag" that the Tea Party so gleefully spread as "the new American Flag" claiming that the President was redesigning the American flag, which of course is false. The flag shown here is a campaign flag. Mercer's campaign (as suggested by the post) was repeating and proliferating the propaganda with this re-post. This is an ongoing discourse between sides about the sanctity of the American flag, the scope of which is beyond the nature of this blog, but it remains a fact that all political parties, the Tea Party included, have throughout history made campaign versions of  flags that do not comply with the US code regarding flags.

First, Mercer's original post:
Mercer: Campaign here. We saw this today and...wow! What do you think about it?

Mr. Ramirez response:

Jesse Antonio Ramirez, "Hey Gabriela, don't call me your "amigo"...I would never befriend a Republican Vendida like U. I voted for Obama before and I will vote for him again. Here's three good reasons why: 1. He thinks millionaires & billionaires should pay their fair share of taxes like the rest of us. 2. Despite inheriting one of the worst economic messes since the Great Depression, he added 2.6 million private sector jobs to our economy, and indications are that the economy is slowly improving. 3. He thinks women should have access to free preventive health care."

"Hey "Malinche" here's two more good reasons why I say "Four more years for Obama/Biden"...: 4. He ended the war in Iraq and is drawing the war in Afghanistan to a close. Like he said he would. 5. Obama went looking for Bin Laden and he found him and brought him to justice for 9/11. Like he said he would. You want more reasons? I'll send you more..."

"Did I hear you say, "One More Reason"...OK 'Coconut': 6. The Affordable Care Act removes restrictions on pre-existing conditions, makes health care more affordable for small businesses, raises the age at which children can be on their parents' policies, removes lifetime caps, and more. For years and years I've heard politicians talking about Health Care Reform, and Obama is the first one to do something about it. Tell me who would not want these positive changes, besides YOU and your Republican cohorts?"

Gabriela Saucedo Mercer Jesse Antonio Ramirez, it is time to check your facts amigo Ramirez! You are voting for Obama because he will help Latinos get jobs, or freebies that ultimately come from the tax payers wallets? Historically Democrats have kept the minorities oppressed. Learn history, Democrats were against ending slavery, and they fought against the blacks during the civil rights movement. I bet you think Cesar Chavez was a hero? Did you know he hated illegal immigrants because they

Paul Chavez, son of Cesar Chavez, kneels at his father's grave

undermined his deal with the migrant worked union he had? He did not advocate for the poor illegal as many have been made to believe. He did not care for "his people". Take a look at this facts: City, State, % of People Below the Poverty Level (pop. 250,000+)

Philadelphia , PA 25.1%
Newark , NJ 24.2%

See The Goldman Immigration Blog where Tuscon attorneys Goldman and Goldman state, "by censoring detractors and fact checkers, [Gabriela Saucedo Mercer's] actions demonstrate that she is undeniably unprepared to be a congresswoman and deal with individuals who disagree with her or protect our constitutional right to free speech."
